Poem #3

Unedited

I hate that I still call your name
when I’m curled up in bed.
I hate that in those moments of longing,
When my body rises with desire
And I have nowhere to place them,
My mind still searches for you.
I hate that I want to give myself only to you,
That my body desires you and you alone,
That my body still remembers a home my heart is trying to forget.
I hate that it’s the thoughts of you
That awaken these quiet fires in me.
That your body, and your touch are the only memories my loneliness wants to undress,
The only ghost my skin still mistakes for love.
I wish my body learnt what my mind already knows,
That you are gone.
That missing you should not feel like craving for you.

Did this poem speak to you?
Help me keep writing them.
