His words calmed her nerves,
But, he can’t compare it with her patience.
He can’t feel what she felt when she was watching on the sideline,
When she was the cheerleader and not on the field.
She loved him the first day she saw him.
Its funny because she had just brought life into the world,
And her heart had been shuttered.
But, the few pieces that could be put together,
Chose to believe in love – in him.
She felt he was different.
She wanted to give it a try.
He didn’t notice her – he loved another.
She was happy for him – inside she was bleeding, again.
She was patient – because she believed that if she could wait a little longer,
He would notice her. He didn’t.
Years passed and all she could do was write poems.
She looked for love in all the wrong places
Sometimes, she hoped he would rescue her from the grave she was digging for her tired soul.
He didn’t. She felt betrayed.
Love let her down.
So she wrote and wrote to let it out
Some letters she hoped would get to him.
They didn’t make it past her tear-soaked pillow
Finally, she gave up.
But, it was too late. She was messed up.
Love ruined her and wasted her years.
That’s the price she paid for looking for love in the wrong places
Sometimes, she blames him. If only he would notice her,
She would be cuddling with her love – years later.
Now she wonders if time will truly tell.
She is not ready to give him the scraps that are left of her broken heart,
Because deep down, she still loves him.
